Kate Moross
Kate Moross is one of my favourite current designers, i came across her work a couple of years ago while doing research for a project at college. She is only 24 but she runs her own graphic design company and has also expanded and now runs her own record company which only sell vinyl records which she designs herself. She also has a gift shop on her website that sells t-shirts, posters and allsorts of other things that she has designed. I think it is really amazing that she has done all this already and hope that i can go down a similar sort of route. I really like her style of illustration, a lot of her work just uses geometric shapes to create an image and a lot of her designs really stand out and are very memorable. She made her name when she was a student, winning a competition for designing an advertising campaign for dairy milk chocolate.
choosing my city for Yo Sushi!
for this project i need to choose a city for my Yo Sushi! restaurant to be based, so that i can brand that restaurant in the style of that city. i need to think about things like landmarks, celebrities and famous historical figures for that city that i might want to include in my mural. i could also think about any sub cultures that city might have when determining a style for the restaurant.
at the moment i am considering a few different cities but the main 2 are London & New York, mainly because i know the most about these cities compared to the others on the list. they both have lots of landmarks and memorable places aswell as people like the queen or prime minister for london. I am also thinking about using music in my mural so need to find out some famous bands from each of these cities.
I think right now i am focussing more towards London and have started to do some research and mind maps about London landmarks and Icons. I also made a list using a top of the mind branding exercise and came up with the first things that came in to my head when i thought of London, things like the queen, tower bridge, red buses and big ben etc.

first post
okay so this year with each project i do i have to use this blog as part of my research, use it to post things like images of work i have found during my research, links to artists websites, my opinions on things i have found and work of my own. The first project i have started researching is a branding project for Yo Sushi! i have to choose a city and design the brand for a Yo Sushi! restaurant there. One of the first things i have to do is create a mural to go on the wall of this new restaurant so i am going to start researching existing mural style work, Yo Sushi! restaurants in various cities around the world and also research artists and different illustration styles to help come up with an idea of how to design my mural.
